Choir is monumental in BBC Proms performance

"The choir sounded truly monumental"...."The movement was sung with unflinching confidence allied to parade ground precision."

This was the resounding praise from two separate reviews of Crouch End Festival Chorus' appearance at the BBC Proms on July 31 2023.

The choir joined up with the BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales for a performance of John Adams' Harmonium at London's Royal Albert Hall.

Musical Director David Temple worked with Adrian Partington, Artistic Director of the National Chorus of Wales, to prepare the chorus of more than 200 voices for Californian conductor Ryan Bancroft.

"The performance was stunning and the ovation from the audience said it all, " Temple said. "This is one of the most demanding works in the entire repertoire."

Erica Jeal of The Guardian wrote: 

"The choir and orchestra were both to explode upwards again in the glittering finale, the choir sounding truly monumental."

Crouch End Festival Chorus's next concert at the start of the new season will feature Monteverdi's Vespers on October 21 2023 at Alexandra Palace Theatre in north London.
